4/25/2012 4:42:25 PM I agree, the return to zero on the EXPS is amazing.. I took it off and put it back on 3-4 times while adjusting tension and it went back exactly where it was originally. KD27 4/25/2012 6:59:34 PM Thanks for all the feeback guys. I ended up pulling the trigger on an EXPS2-0. It’s slated for delivery tomorrow. Hopefully, I’ll get the correct product sometime this week. That’s kind of funny. Not that store, but when I bought mine, I got the EXPS instead of the XPS. I decided I like it. I have flip up front and rear so I didn’t need the lower 1/3, but it’s not a big deal. EOTech ‘s are funny in that the hologram is visible in ANY part of the window. So, technically, you don’t have to adjust your cheek weld – the hologram lines up where you look through it. It just sits a bit higher. That being said, the only practical difference I have is when I practice with the BUIS – it’s a touch more difficult to line up a shot when you have a big ole scope blocking part of the sights, but I haven’t found accuracy to suffer too much. 77Bronc 4/29/2012 10:15:23 PM I owned two 512′s in the past and sold them, cant remember why? I went to aimpoints and still have them…when EOT came out with their XPS/EXPS line I got interested again…I liked the internal mount and the side buttons are real good if you are running a BUIS up close, especially a BUIS that does not fold down… I went to a gun show yesterday looking for a pistol but wound up purchasing a EXPS3-0 for what I feel is a real good deal, $525 out the door….NV settings, that I will never use, built in Quick Release, CR123 batteries and lower 1/3 co-witness….That is what you want, lower witness….you have a red dot, why clutter up the sight picture with irons, use the irons when the dot is out…. Mounted it last night on one of my LMT’s that needed an optic. Took it to the range this morning, target at 25 yards, 1/2″ left and 4″ low…..dialed it in to 1.25″ low at 25 yards, moved out to 75 yards about 1′ high…..did not get to 100 yards, left before a cold range was called. Will work that next week. My experience with the EOT’s and aimpoints, which I have a lot of, you want lower 1/3 co-witness, you need a transverse mounted battery system like the X/E series, you want a good battery system like the CR 123 and having the built in mount is great…. Now that I have used the X/E series I will never go back to the regular EOT’s….As far as AP vs EOT, to each his own. The large window on the EOT is great, good FOV. The AP is built like a tank, get it with a LaRue mount and you really have a good combination. Just my thoughts…. 77For the $500 price range I’m looking for an EOTech thats not only NV compatible but takes AAs. I’ve been looking on google and there are a ton of models! I don’t know to much about EOTech s but I’m drooling over this model. http://www.buymilsurp.com/550-series-mil-aa-65moa-rng-1moa-dot-nv-com-EOTech -p-6589.html?zenid=724ead27e35216fa3ad857d5f0da64e8 (don’t know if I am going to buy from this place) So is there anything I should know before I buy this model? Any places that you guys suggest buying it from that may have better prices? CTbuilder1

4/4/2012 6:43:24 PM btt… HEADHUNTER1976 4/5/2012 6:54:48 PM Second is a metal Grip Pod. Asking $100 75 shipped. I’ll take it, PM me with payment details. *payment sent via priority mail w/ deliv. confirm this morning, 4/10/12. m4nut 4/15/2012 1:20:58 PM As per our PM’s thursday, I will take the Hogue ghilly tan Funds out tomorrow AM LOL I made this myself, this is my second Ghillie Suit , I made it for myslelf and for my own needs/wants. If you have a better way of making one, please feel free to share so we all my learn. I started out with these materials: BDU (woodland or desert) (i would have gotten desert but the pawn shop didn’t have any.) Vollyball net needle & thread (or shoo glue or similar) camo burlap from Wal-Mart I cut the burlap into squares 18 inches by 18 inches, then pulled the individual threads out. Sew the vb net to the BDU you can just glue it with shoo glue but it may not last as long as thread. next tie the strips of burlap to the net, you don’t need as much as you think, it covers pretty well. I tied about 10 strands to each side of each square on the vollyball net. It takes A LOT of work and time but it is worth it, don’t try to do too much at once, work on it a little bit each night and it will go by pretty fast. I just plug in a Verminators DVD and worked the whole time. Any movie will work but I like to keep with the theme. I cut the flaps off the pockets so I could still put stuff in them Going to finish it, I didn’t have enough burlap to finish the sleeves and back. Also going to tie burlap to the hat too. I already have some pants that I just glued the vb net to, works great. It will work great once I go outside and roll around in it and get it all dirty with nature. Also a lot of people sew canvas with padding to the elbows and the chest, but because I call coyotes sitting down, not laying down, I wanted the front to be Ghillie Suit , not burlap, I don’t plan on crawling. The last one I made, I just used glue and it has held up great, going to give that one to my brother, it works great, called coyotes right up to me, never knew i was there. Enigma102083

Once the barrel is installed on the receiver, ALL of the rest of the work necessary to build a rifle can be accomplished on the M14 Scope Mounts type rifle just as easily as the AR10 type rifle by the individual builder so very little advantage goes to the AR10 verses the M14 Scope Mounts in this aspect.

Mike,
I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.
If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.
The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.
Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.
The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.
Thanks,
WarriorClass

That is twice as much as I paid; I wonder if they charge more for that model? I wish EOTech had a better warranty plan, but I guess their optics are being upgraded so frequently that it’s not really practical to have a long-term repair guarantee without charging a lot more money. I did not research repair prices before contacting L3 EOTech . I knew used EOTech s were $300+ so I did not haggle or anything but I will say that it appears that EOTech sent me a brand new unit that they stuck my old s/n decal on. The one I sent in was not scratched or anything but the one I received came in a new box with a new owners manual , a new thumb knob screw and even a new allen wrench.Did I mention my old unit was a 2005 model?
